Cookie Policy
This site sets no cookies today. That is a measurable claim rather than a slogan, and this page explains how to check it — and what will change when advertising is switched on.
1. The honest headline
This site currently sets no cookies at all.
That is a measurable claim, not a slogan: no page of this site returns a Set-Cookieheader. You can confirm it in your browser’s developer tools — open the Network panel, reload any page here, and look at the response headers. There are none to find.
What the site does use is local storage, which is a different thing, and the difference matters to you rather than being a technicality.
2. Local storage is not a cookie
- Cookies are sent to a server with every request, automatically. Local storage is never transmitted anywhere — not to us, not to anyone.
- Cookies can often be read by third parties; that is frequently the point of them. Local storage can be read only by pages on this site.
- Cookies are commonly used to track you across sites. Local storage cannot be.
Because local storage is never transmitted, the things you save here — your theme, your 12- or 24-hour preference, a running stopwatch, your pomodoro history — cannot be read by us, by an advertiser, or by any other website. They sit on your device until you clear them.
The full list of what is stored, and which tool stores it, is inthe Privacy Policy, section 3.
3. What will change when advertising is switched on
We intend to fund this site with advertising. We have not switched it on yet, and no advertising or consent code is currently served.
When we do, Google will serve the ads and will usecookies or similar identifiers. At that point:
- Where consent is legally required — the EEA, the UK and Switzerland — you will be shown a consent message from a Google-certified consent platform before any non-essential cookie is set, and you will be able to change your choice at any time.
- ⚠️ If you decline, you may see non-personalised ads, or in some regions no ads at all.Which happens is Google’s behaviour and varies by region. We are not going to promise you the gentler outcome, because we do not control it.
- A small number of cookies may be classified as strictly necessary — for example to remember the consent choice you just made, so you are not asked again on every page.
The specific cookie names, their purposes and how long they last will be listed here in the same change that enables advertising. They cannot be listed in advance, because they are Google’s and they change — and publishing a table of guesses would be worse than publishing none. A cookie table that is empty while cookies are being set is a disclosure failure rather than a formality, which is why completing it is part of switching ads on rather than a follow-up task.
4. How to control it
Today, because nothing is set, there is nothing to refuse. To remove what is stored locally, clear this site’s data in your browser — every major browser offers this per site, and doing so erases everything listed in the Privacy Policy’s section 3.
Once advertising is live, you will additionally be able to:
- change your consent choice through the consent control, at any time;
- block or delete cookies in your browser settings, per site;
- use Global Privacy Control if your browser or extension supports it.
Those three controls describe how the site will work once ads are enabled. The consent control does not exist yet, because there is nothing yet for it to control — we would rather say that than describe a button you cannot find.
5. Google’s own information
Once ads are live, Google’s own descriptions of how it uses cookies in advertising will be linked here, and we will keep those links current. They are not linked yet because nothing on this site loads anything of Google’s.
6. Changes
If we start setting cookies, this page and its date will be updated on or beforethat happens. Substantive changes are also recorded on the changelog.
